Chennai, 11 August: After being removed as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in Chennai by the external affairs ministry, it is to be seen whether industrialist and former Board of Control for Cricket in India president A C Muthiah continues as the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Planning Commission. The Tamil Nadu government received the order via a circular bearing the signature of the deputy chief of protocol in the ministry of external affairs.
The termination was ordered after the ministry received a request from authorities in Belgium when complaints were made to them regarding his financial dealings. Janata Party chief Mr Subramaniam Swamy had yesterday written to the state chief minister J Jayalalithaa, requesting her to drop Muthiah from the commission. SNS
