Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has beaten Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar to become the ‘most admired’ sportsperson in India.

Recently, YouGov conducted an online survey in which, the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman reserved the first spot with 7.7 percent “admiration score” as per www.icc-cricket.com. In the survey, after MS Dhoni, India’s batting legend was at the second spot with 6.8 percent. The 29-year-old Indian captain, Virat Kohli, managed only 4.8 percent votes.

During the second One Day International between India and England at the Lord’s recently, MS Dhoni scored 33 runs off 47 balls and in the process become 12th cricketers and 4th Indian player to score 10,000 runs in the limited overs’ game.

Dhoni was under a lot of fire as cricket experts and fans criticised him for his poor performance in the second and last ODI match. Speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket were also doing the rounds.

India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had, however, backed the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Sachin Tendulkar said MS Dhoni was the best person to decide on his future, adding that he would be the first to admit that his performance in England was not up to mark.
