Mithali Raj, Smriti Mandhana’s half-tons help India bag 9-wicket win over South Africa

With the help of ‘run-machine’ Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj’s half-centuries, Indian women’s cricket team thrashed South African eves by nine wickets in the second Twenty20 International.

With the win, Indian squad have taken a lead of 2-0 in the series.

Earlier on Friday, after winning the toss, Kaur invited the Proteas to bat and her schemes of things worked as South Africans could post a target of 142 runs for seven wickets.

Following the steady target, India chased down the target in 19.1 overs without much fuss.

From Indian camp, opener Mithali Raj was the top scorer with her unbeaten 76 runs. Smriti Mandhana along with Raj gave India a steady start as they put 106-run stand for the first wicket.

Anuja Patil and Poonam Yadav claimed two wickets each.

The third T20I between Indian and South African eves will be played at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday.
