India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, regaining her place as the premier batter in the format.

Mandhana leapfrogged England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt after her fluent 58 in the opening ODI against Australia in Mullanpur.

The knock helped her gain seven rating points, moving four clear of Sciver-Brunt and returning to the top position she previously held in June and July this year.

The 29-year-old had first ascended to No.1 in 2019 and has now enjoyed two separate stints at the summit in 2025, showcasing her renewed consistency with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup less than a fortnight away.

There was further good news for Indian batters, with Pratika Rawal climbing four places to 42nd and Harleen Deol rising five spots to 43rd.

Australia, buoyed by their commanding eight-wicket win in the series opener against India, also saw significant gains. Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 77 lifted her three places to fifth, while Annabel Sutherland (up four spots) and Phoebe Litchfield (up 13) both moved into joint 25th after notching half-centuries.

The latest update also brought career-high ratings for Australian bowlers. Pacer Kim Garth rose one place to fourth and leg-spinner Alana King moved to fifth, each picking up a wicket in the first ODI. For India, Sneh Rana jumped five spots to 13th, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains the undisputed No.1 despite not playing last week.

Among all-rounders, Australia continues to dominate. Ash Gardner holds firm at No.1, with Sutherland improving to sixth and Ellyse Perry climbing two places to 13th after solid outings against India.
