Describing his journey to Premier League club Manchester United, midfielder DJ Buffonge said he had to come across a lot of ups and downs en route to Old Trafford.

“I started off at a Sunday League team – Broadwater Farm in London. It’s grass-roots football and I started very young. I was only about four and wasn’t technically allowed to play but they still let me join in,” Buffonge said as quoted by ManUtd.com.

The 19-year-old learned football from local London side Broadwater Farm before making it big at Fulham and their hugely-respected Academy.

“From there, I went to Arsenal and, from Arsenal, to Fulham and Fulham to here. Yeah, there have been a lot of moves,” he added.

Talking about his move to United, Buffonge added: “It was a big move for me and my family to come north. My family actually moved up with me to help support me. So those are the people who give me advice and are very supportive. It’s extremely important because it keeps me level headed, grounded and focused.”

“Ever since I was at Broadwater Farm, they have been there for me. They are proud of me but I am proud of them too. It’s not easy to take me training all the time and all the effort that goes with it,” the footballer thanked his family for support.

Buffonge is likely to feature in a Premier League International Cup match against Athletic Club on Wednesday.
