South Africa-born cricketer Kevin Pietersen on Tuesday made some bold prediction about the future of the Test cricket and said that after ten years, only five out of ten members of International Cricket Council (ICC) will play the longest format of the game.

Pietersen in his Tweet wrote that after a decade, only England, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Australia will play Test cricket. However, he also claimed that the rest of the countries will play only white ball cricket.

The former England cricketer took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to predict the future of Test cricket and wrote, “Here we go – in 10yrs the only cricket Test-playing nations will be, England, SA, India, Pakistan & Australia. The rest will all be white ball cricketers! Just remember this tweet! “.

Pietersen’s Tweet has created a storm among the cricket lovers on twitter. While there are many who believes his prediction to be true, some fans also believe that even teams like South Africa, India and Pakistan will also opt out of the longest format of the game.

“Yes you are right but chances are there SA, India and Pakistan to opt out.. But they could not pull crowd.. Recently held SA and India test series is an example,” writes a Twitter user on his post.

“Yes, this all due to money. Nowadays youngsters would like to play for T20 team and earn money. Hence cricket nation should bring something new in Tests like Test world cup to get the attention from audience then give more money rewards to the players compare to other format,” write another cricket fan.

Kevin Pietersen had played 104 Tests and scored 4,440 runs for England.
