The Junior Hockey World Cup trophy, to be hosted by India in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10, will arrive in Lucknow tomorrow.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unveil the prestigious trophy at his official residence at a special ceremony marking its arrival in the state capital.

The trophy is travelling across various cities in the country as part of its promotional tour and will head to Udaipur after its stopover in Lucknow.

The unveiling ceremony will be attended by Sports Minister Girish Chandra Yadav, Hockey India General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh, Director General of Hockey India R.K. Srivastava, Sports Secretary Suhas L.Y., Sports Director Dr. R.P. Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Hockey General Secretary Rajneesh Mishra.

Following the ceremony, the trophy will be taken to the K.D. Singh Babu Stadium, where hockey players and fans will have the opportunity to view and take selfies with it. Excitement is building in the city, as this glittering trophy will soon be awarded to the winning team of the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup, often described as the grand festival of junior hockey.

Lucknow shares a proud connection with the tournament — the city hosted the Junior Hockey World Cup in 2016, held at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium inside Guru Gobind Singh Sports College on Kursi Road. In that edition, the Indian junior hockey team put up a spectacular performance, defeating Belgium in the final to lift the world champion’s title on home soil.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey President Dr. R.P. Singh said all preparations for welcoming the trophy have been completed. After the ceremony at the Chief Minister’s residence, the trophy will be brought to the K.D. Singh Babu Stadium, where players and sports enthusiasts from the city will get a chance to witness it up close.

As the city prepares for the trophy’s arrival, Lucknow once again takes the centre stage in celebrating India’s rich hockey heritage and the excitement surrounding the upcoming global tournament.
