India’s bowling unit led by Jasprit Bumrah (4/43) kept a tight hold over against Sri Lanka in the second ODI as the hosts were restricted to 236/8 in their allotted 50 overs at Kandy on Thursday.

India currently lead the five-match ODI series by 1-0 and had clinched the three-match Test series 3-0.

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the visitors came with intent to dominate the islanders and so they did after choosing to bowl first at Pallekele International Stadium.

Speedster Bumrah claimed four wickets in Niroshan Dickwella (31), Milinda Siriwardana (58), Chamara Kapugedera (40) and Akila Dananjaya (9).

Siriwardana, facing a tough bowling attack, emerged as the lone Sri Lankan with a decent knock at the tail end.

For India, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also excelled with the ball as he took the scalp of top-order batsmen Danushka Gunathilaka (19) and Kusal Mendis (19).

Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel dismissed skipper Upul Tharanga (9) and middle-order batsman Angelo Mathews (20), respectively, to join the party.
