Japanese GP: Lewis Hamilton beats Max Verstappen; Sebastian Vettel retires

Mercedes’ British driver Lewis Hamilton edged Max Verstappen of Red Bull by just 1.2 seconds to win the 2017 Formula One Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.

Red Bull’s Australian racing driver Daniel Ricciardo finished third with a timing of 1:33.738.

On Suzuka Circuit, Sebastian Vettel suffered his second retirement in three races, due to engine dysfunction in his Ferrari machine.

“The track was fantastic and the team did an incredible job. Max didn’t make it easy for us though,” Hamilton said after the victory.

“I could have only dreamed about having such a gap in the standings. I owe everything to the team. They are meticulous,” the 32-year-old driver added.

Initial Classification:

 

India’s F1 team Force India also did well on the circuit as their drivers Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez finished sixth and seventh respectively.

Ocon clocked 1:34.898, while Perez concluded with a timing of 1:35.859.
