In all praise for Mesut Ozil, the German playmaker who claimed his 45th assist of his Arsenal career when setting up Shkodran Mustafi’s opener, and Alexis Sanchez, who scored in Arsenal 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that he has never questioned their commitment.

“If you have to give me one credit, it’s that I’ve never questioned that. I know them well and I know that when these guys go on the pitch, they want to win the game. They’ve shown their commitment again today. I’ve never questioned their commitment. They can have bad games but the problem is that, when a player gets near the end of his contract and has a bad game, everybody says it’s because he’s going. Their interest is to play,” Wenger said at the press conference after the match.

According to www.arsenal.com, when asked about Alexis and Ozil signing new contracts, Wenger said, “The quality of the contract has to be good and enough for them as well. I am convinced that they love the club and they love the team. All the rest will be decided soon. When? I don’t really know. I’m not alone in mastering that. The whole thing has to be right and they have to be happy. I believe that they love the club, they want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well.”

Meanwhile, Ozil said that was always sweet to beat Tottenham. “Yes, of course. We are happy, the fans are happy and we are happy to have Musti (Shkodran Mustafi) back. He showed his quality today and you see our defence is more stable and more compact,” he said.

Ozil said that he enjoyed playing with Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette. “I really enjoy it. Lacazette and Alexis are always dangerous. They can always score and today especially Alexis showed his quality. I am really happy for him to score against Tottenham and I’m really thankful to win this game,” he said.
