Artificial intelligence has made it easier than ever to create convincing fake videos, and the latest victim of the trend is Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. A manipulated clip featuring the 15-year-old and veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle recently went viral on social media, falsely portraying the youngster making disrespectful remarks about Virat Kohli.
In the edited video, Bhogle is seemingly heard asking Sooryavanshi whether he wants to become a “king” like Kohli. The teenager is then shown responding by calling the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star “slow” and “selfish”, while allegedly claiming that he only wants Kohli’s fan following. The clip quickly gained traction online, sparking reactions across social media.

However, Bhogle was quick to dismiss the video as fake. Taking to X, the renowned commentator clarified that neither had he asked such a question nor had Sooryavanshi given any such response. He also expressed concern over the way the fabricated clip attempted to portray the youngster.
“There is a fake dubbed clip of me and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi doing the rounds on social media. It depicts Vaibhav as being rude and cocky. Neither was that question asked nor was there an answer like that. It is cruel and mischievous, especially towards a young kid who has been very respectful in his few interactions,” Bhogle wrote.

The clarification comes at a time when Sooryavanshi’s reputation continues to soar following a remarkable IPL 2026 season. The teenager finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 776 runs and swept multiple individual honours, including the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season and Super Sixes of the Season awards.

Contrary to the narrative presented in the fake video, Sooryavanshi and Kohli shared a warm moment after the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. In a video shared by the IPL’s official social media accounts, Kohli congratulated the youngster on his outstanding season, saying, “Well played, young man.”
The interaction highlighted the mutual respect between the two cricketers. While Kohli offered words of encouragement, Sooryavanshi listened attentively and greeted the former India captain.
Kohli had also praised the Rajasthan Royals batter during the post-final presentation ceremony. As Sooryavanshi walked up to collect his Orange Cap, Kohli was heard telling AB de Villiers, “This kid is special, he can bat.”
