ISL fixtures for 2019-20 announced; Kerala Blasters up against ATK in ISL opener

Bengaluru FC will begin the season as the defending champions as they had gone on to win the ISL by beating FC Goa 1-0 in the season finale in March.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 season fixtures were released on Friday. Kerala Blasters are set to lock horns with ATK in the opening clash of the season.

This will be the sixth edition of the league which is all set to commence from 20 October. This implies that ISL will begin five days after India’s 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Joint-Qualifiers home match against Bangladesh.

Notably, Bengaluru FC will begin the season as the defending champions as they had gone on to win the ISL by beating FC Goa 1-0 in the season finale in March. In a latest development, the winner of the ISL from this season onwards could get an opportunity to feature in the 2021 AFC Champions League qualifiers.

After the season opener between Blasters and ATK, the defending champions Bengaluru will be in action the following day against NorthEast United FC.
ATK, Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Goa, FC Pune City, Jamshedpur FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United FC are the 10 teams that are participating in the ISL season 2019-20.
