Robert Jarni led NorthEast United FC have had an impressive start to the season with four points from a couple of matches. First, they managed to squeeze out a point from defending champions Bengaluru FC at their fortress and then won the match convincingly over Odisha FC. However, against Goa, they have not had a good record and have managed to end up on the winning side only two of their last 10 meetings.

On the other hand, Goa have not managed to win a single game in Guwahati ever since Sergio Lobera took charge way back in 2017. They have had a strange start to the season so far. While they eased past Chennaiyin FC in their first match, they failed to play with their natural flair against Bengaluru FC and somehow managed a draw, thanks to a late penalty from Ferran Corominas.

“The stats are made to be broken and we will try to do it this time (improve their poor record against Goa). You have a plan for every game and not only Goa. We have played against good teams before that had very fast players. There is a plan. We have to be concentrated and be smart on the pitch,” said Jarni, ahead of the match.

However, all said and done, it promises to be a riveting game of football at Guwahati tonight.
