A stunning unbeaten 135 from Abhishek Sharma headlined a dominant all-round performance as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
After being put in to bat, SRH piled up a massive 242/2, riding on Abhishek’s blistering yet composed knock that combined calculated build-up with brutal acceleration.
Abhishek anchors SRH’s batting masterclass
Abhishek’s innings stood out not just for its power but also for its control. He reached his fifty in 25 balls and brought up his ninth T20 century in just 47 deliveries, shifting gears effortlessly after a measured start.
Alongside Travis Head (37 off 26), he laid a strong platform with a fluent powerplay stand, guiding SRH to 67 without loss in six overs.
Even after Head’s dismissal at 97/1, there was no let-up. Abhishek, joined by Ishan Kishan, kept the pressure on, dismantling the DC bowling attack through the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav and the seamers were unable to stem the flow of runs as SRH surged past 200 with ease.
By the end of the innings, Abhishek’s unbeaten 135 had powered SRH to one of the highest totals of the season.
DC start well but fall short in steep chase
Chasing 243, Delhi Capitals began aggressively, racing to 50 inside five overs. Nitish Rana (57 off 30) and Sameer Rizvi (41 off 28) kept the required rate in check early on, while KL Rahul chipped in with a brisk 37.
However, the chase derailed in the middle overs as wickets began to fall in clusters.
Eshan Malinga turned the game decisively in SRH’s favour with a four-wicket haul, including a crucial double strike that removed Rana and David Miller on successive deliveries.
Harsh Dubey provided excellent support, picking up three wickets and cleaning up the lower order, including three in the final over.
With the asking rate climbing beyond reach, DC eventually finished at 195/9, falling 47 runs short.
