Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered a setback in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026, with all-rounder Brydon Carse ruled out of the tournament due to injury without featuring in a single match.

The franchise has brought in Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka as his replacement for the remainder of the season.

Confirming the development, the IPL said in an official statement:
“Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have picked Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2026. Carse has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL season due to an injury.”

Madushanka, a left-arm pacer, brings international experience, having represented Sri Lanka across formats and picking up 70 wickets so far. He joins SRH for INR 75 lakh and was previously associated with Mumbai Indians, although he is yet to make his IPL debut.

The 25-year-old is known for his ability to swing the new ball, which could add a new dimension to SRH’s bowling attack. The unit already features promising youngsters like Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, alongside experienced names such as Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. Skipper Pat Cummins is expected to join the squad on April 17.

In Cummins’ absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading the side. SRH have won two of their five matches so far and currently sit fourth on the points table with a positive net run rate.

They head into their next fixture on the back of a commanding win over Rajasthan Royals, where debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain claimed four wickets each to seal a dominant victory.

SRH will next face Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.
