A breathtaking run-fest at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium saw Sunrisers Hyderabad pull off a sensational five-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals, chasing down a daunting 229 in just 18.3 overs in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League 2026.

The chase overshadowed a stunning century from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive knock had earlier powered RR to a formidable 228/6.

Sooryavanshi’s 103 lights up Jaipur

Asked to bat first, RR were off to a blistering start courtesy of teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who tore into the SRH attack from the outset. He smashed four sixes in the opening over and raced to a 15-ball fifty, putting immediate pressure on the visitors.

Despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal early, Sooryavanshi continued his onslaught, finding support from Dhruv Jurel, who played a fluent hand of 51 off 25 balls.

The young opener brought up a sensational century in just 36 balls — his second in the IPL — before falling for a jaw-dropping 103 off 37 deliveries, laced with 12 sixes.

Late contributions from Donovan Ferreira (33 off 16) and Shimron Hetmyer helped RR post a massive 228/6.

For SRH, Eshan Malinga was the pick of the bowlers with 2/38, while Pat Cummins and others chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, SRH suffered an early blow when Travis Head fell in the first over. But what followed was a brutal counterattack led by Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma.

The duo added a match-defining 132-run partnership for the second wicket, tearing apart the RR bowling attack and racing to 89/1 in the powerplay. Both batters brought up rapid half-centuries, maintaining a staggering run rate throughout the chase.

Kishan was the chief aggressor, hammering 74 off just 31 balls, while Abhishek smashed 57 off 29 deliveries.

After the dismissal of both set batters, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy ensured there were no late hiccups. The pair stitched an unbeaten stand to guide SRH home comfortably with nine balls to spare.

Klaasen remained unbeaten on 29, while Nitish provided the finishing flourish with a quickfire 36 off 18 balls.

For RR, Jofra Archer was the standout with 2/34, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain the flow of runs on a batting-friendly surface.
