IPL 2026: KKR win toss, opt to bowl against MI as Hardik Pandya returns at Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in Match 65 of IPL 2026 at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday, keeping faith in the chasing-friendly conditions at the iconic venue.

The biggest boost for Mumbai came with the return of skipper Hardik Pandya, who walked straight back into the playing XI after missing the previous game.

For KKR, the equation is straightforward – win or risk elimination. The defending champions have revived their campaign impressively after a sluggish start, winning five of their last six matches to stay alive in the playoff race.

Opting to chase reflects their confidence in both their batting depth and spin attack under lights at Eden Gardens.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, are already out of contention but remain dangerous opponents capable of disrupting KKR’s playoff push.

Despite an inconsistent season, MI showed signs of life in their previous outing, and the return of Hardik adds balance to both their batting and bowling departments.

The Eden Gardens surface is expected to offer plenty of runs early on, with the quick outfield aiding stroke play. However, as the match progresses, spinners like Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy could become decisive factors in the middle overs.
