Former Indian coach and skipper Anil Kumble on Friday had his say about resting the key Indian pacers in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) ahead of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2019.

Anil Kumble, who also holds the title of India’s highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game, feels the idea of resting main Indian pacers should be taken into the consideration from the cash-rich league to keep them fresh ahead of the 2019 World Cup.

However, Kumble also feels that the IPL franchises will not be happy with the decision.

“One of the most important parts of preparation will be keeping the bowlers fresh as there is a lot of cricket coming up from now till the start of the World Cup. Even though franchisees may not like the idea of resting India bowlers, but for the country’s sake, it has to be considered,” Anil Kumble said at the book launch of former BCCI president N Srinivasan’s.

As per reports in the media, even Indian skipper Virat Kohli has suggested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to rest Indian seamer in IPL in order to keep them fresh for the upcoming World tournament in England.

Earlier in 2018, star Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar had missed the England tour due to injury.

The final decision whether the pacers would be rested for the entire season of IPL or for the few parts of the T20 League could come down to whether franchise owners want them rested or not.
