Earlier, in the fifth match of the cash-rich league between MS Dhoni-led CSK and Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, shoes were hurled at Ravindra Jadeja and South African skipper Faf du Plessis.

During the first innings of the game, when KKR team was batting, a shoe was thrown from the crowd at Ravindra Jadeja who was standing on the long-on position.

However, the shoe missed Jadeja as CSK batter Du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi were walking near the boundary rope.

Notably, all six matches of Chennai Super Kings that were to be play in Chennai have been shifted to Pune.

Talking to the media, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla said, “CSK will be asked to move their home matches to Pune as the Chennai police have expressed their inability to provide adequate security for the remaining matches.”

Meanwhile, talking to news agency IANS, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Chief Executive Officer K S Viswanathan said: “We talked to the Chennai’s Commissioner of Police over the issue. He suggested we shift the matches as the situation is volatile in the city.”

“We have put the ball in BCCI’s court and the board will now take a call on the issue,” Viswanathan added.

MS Dhoni’s squad will next face Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on 14th March.
