Taking care of the interests of their fans and to have the feel of the home crowd, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had arranged a special train (Whistlepodu Express ) for its fans from Chennai to Pune on Thursday.

The train was arranged so that fans can witness the live performance of their favourite team in Pune where CSK is set to play their second home game against Ajinkya Rahane’s Rajasthan Royals.

The franchise arranged the train after joining hands with the Southern Railways. All expenses (train tickets, accommodation, food and local transportation in Pune) have reportedly been taken care of by Chennai Super Kings.

As per reports published in Sportskeeda, CSK plans to run this train for all its home games in Pune.

Talking about their decision to arrange the special train for CSK fans, Chennai Super Kings’ CEO Kasi Vishwanathan said, “The inaugural train journey was flagged off by Mr. Rakesh Singh, Executive President, India Cements Ltd, our sponsor. CSK management wishes to thank the Southern Railways for arranging a special train.

“CSK wishes to organise similarly for all its home games in Pune for fans from Chennai to travel and witness the matches in Pune subject to availability of trains,” Kasi told Sportskeeda.

On Thursday morning, at the Chennai Central railway station, everything was yellow as approximately 1,000 CSK fans began their journey to Pune in — Whitlsepodu Express (a train specially arrange for the team) — to watch the match between CSK and Rajasthan Royals.

“Without the fans, Chennai Super Kings are nothing. This is the least we can do for the fans who are loyal to us. So, we decided to make prior arrangements for the fans to go all the way to Pune and watch their team play. There were over 10000 fans to see the team train for the IPL before the tournament started and we expected at least 1000 people to board the train to Pune. The response we eventually got is overwhelming,” Kasi further added.
