The much-talked-about Indian Premier League will start from April 7 and end on May 27, 2018. The matches will be played at nine venues, across India. The Board of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the fixtures of the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League.

However, here is some bad news for Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils fans. As Aussie players Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell will miss the opening game of their respective franchises — Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils.

The reason behind their absence is, Finch is tying the knot with Amy Griffiths on April 7. So it is ‘humanly’ not possible for him to play the opening match of his franchise that is scheduled on next day. Maxwell is the MC in Finch’s marriage and that’s why he too will miss the first match of DD.

KXIP and DD will face each-other for their opening match at the Ferozeshah Kotla on April 8.

While talking to reporters in Auckland on Thursday, Finch said, “I saw the fixture this morning – there’s no chance I’ll be missing my wedding.”

“That’d be a bit tough leaving Amy at the altar, wouldn’t it?”

“The second game we play is on the 13th, that’ll give me plenty of time to get over there and miss only one game luckily.”

“Having one of my good mates ‘Hodgey’ as coach … he knows about it now. I did wait a bit longer to send him the invite before the auction.”

“It’s just a case of missing one game but hopefully playing with Kings over a three-year period, it’s not the end of the world.”

There are very high chances that the likes of David Warner and his other high profile teammates will skip his wedding due to IPL.

“Guys like Davey (Warner) and that, they’ve got a job to do for their franchises so I’m sure they’ll be in India,” he said.

While talking about Finch’s marriage, Maxwell said on SEN radio program Whateley, earlier this week, “This is an interesting one and I haven’t told anyone this before, not even Punter – we’ve got Aaron Finch’s wedding on April 7.”

“They said the IPL was going to start on the April 15th – he thought the dates were set but we found out about three months ago it was going to start on the eighth.”
