The Indian women’s cricket team will tour South Africa for a five-match T20I series in April, Cricket South Africa confirmed on Tuesday. The series will serve as a preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, starting June 12.

The five-match T20I series will get underway with two games at Durban on April 17 and 19. The action will then move to Johannesburg, which will host back-to-back matches on April 22 and 25, before the series concludes with the fifth and final T20I at Benoni on April 27.

The two teams which clashed in the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will meet for the first time since India got the better of the Proteas to be crowned World Champions in the 50-over format.

“Facing a team of India’s quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation. It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team’s readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup,” said Enoch Nkwe, CSA’s Director of National Teams and High Performance.

The series is viewed as a perfect preparation for both sides in the run-up to the marquee tournament in England in June. Both India and South Africa have been drawn in the same group at the T20 World Cup alongside Australia, Pakistan and two teams from the qualifiers.
