After spending three years in Europe, Indian footballer Manisha Kalyan is set for a new chapter in South America. Peruvian champions Alianza Lima Femenino have announced the signing of the Indian midfielder from Greek side PAOK FC, with the four-time league winners confirming that the 24-year-old will bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
“Kalyan has excelled at both club and national team levels, bringing dynamism and creativity to the attacking third,” the club said in a statement.
The Punjab-born Manisha arrives in Lima following a successful stint in European football. She most recently represented PAOK FC in Greece, making 23 appearances and scoring eight goals.
Prior to that, she played for Apollon Ladies FC in Cyprus, where she netted 14 goals in 36 matches and created history by becoming the first Indian footballer to feature in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The move to Alianza Lima marks the third overseas club of Manisha’s professional career. She began her journey in India with Sethu FC and Gokulam Kerala before moving abroad in 2022.
“I’m very happy to be here. I’ve followed the team and I love their style of play. I’m very excited about this new challenge,” Manisha said after completing the move. “My focus is on always giving 100 per cent, winning every match, and helping the team achieve its goals.”
With experience across multiple leagues and competitions, Manisha is expected to add creativity, pace and quality to Alianza Lima Femenino’s midfield and attack as they prepare for the new season.
One of India’s most accomplished women footballers, Manisha is a regular member of the national team. She first rose to prominence with Sethu FC, winning the Indian Women’s League, before further enhancing her reputation at Gokulam Kerala with a series of consistent goal-scoring performances.
Renowned for her pace, technical ability and versatility across midfield and attacking roles, Manisha has represented India at major international tournaments, including the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Her move to Apollon Ladies FC in 2022 proved to be a landmark moment for Indian football, opening the door to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and setting the stage for her continued success abroad.
