Continuing their good form, Indian cyclists on Thursday added two bronze medals to take the hosts’ tally to eight on the second day of the Track Asia Cup at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex velodrome here.

Sanuraj P took home the bronze medal in the 1 kilometre Time Trial junior men’s event while the other bronze came from the junior men’s team comprising Sachin Desai, Raju Bati, Sandesh Uppar and Ashwin Patil in the Team Pursuit 4 km Race.

Sanuraj clocked 1:07.902 to finish third in his category while Hong Kong’s TSZ Chun Law won the gold, clocking 1:07.015 and the silver position was taken by Muhammad Danieal Haikkal from Malaysia, who clocked 1:07.871.

In the Team Pursuit 4 km Race, Kazakhstan clinched the gold followed by United Arab Emirates taking the silver medal.

However in the 1Km Time Trial Men Elite, India failed to take any position. Chung Wing Leung of Hong Kong bagged the gold medal with a timing of 1:03.332. Shih Feng Kang from Taiwan and Maxim Nalyotov from Kazakhstan took the silver and bronze respectively, clocking 1:05.125 and 1:05.381.

Elated at the performance of the home cyclists, coach R.K. Sharma said: "This is the event where injured World No.6 Sahil had to participate and India was confident of a gold. Despite having suffered the loss of a strong player our team bagged the bronze medal."

On Friday, India’s Emerson and Sanuraj will compete for bronze medal in Sprint after the qualifying round on Thursday. In the same event, Chun Long Leung and TSZ Chun Law of Hong Kong will compete with each other for the gold and silver medal positions respectively.
