Indian skipper Virat Kohli will once again lead Team India in the upcoming five-match One Day International series against the West Indies starting on October 21. Earlier, Virat Kohli was rested from the Indian squad that lifted the recently concluded Asia Cup 2018 for the seventh time. In Virat’s absence, his deputy Rohit Sharma was handed the responsibility to lead the Men-in-Blue.

Now, Virat Kohli is back in India’s ODI squad and as usual for the 29-year-old, on Sunday when he would walk to bat, he will be on the verge of breaking several records.

The stylish right-handed Delhi batsman is just 187 runs shy from becoming the leading run-scorer for India against the Windies in the ODIs. Currently, India’s batting great Sachin Tendulkar holds the record. Tendulkar has scored 1573 runs in 39 ODIs at an average of 52.73. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has scored 1387 in 27 ODIs at an average of 60.30 with the help of nine fifties and four centuries.

Virat Kohli is also just 221 runs shy from reaching the milestone of 10,000 runs in the limited overs format. The Delhi batsman has scored 9779 runs in 211 ODIs at an average of 58.20 with the help of 35 centuries and 48 fifties. Virat Kohli’s highest score in ODIs is 183.

If Virat Kohli scores 221 runs in the upcoming series, he will become the fifth Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni to achieve this incredible milestone.

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni needs only 101 runs to complete 1000 runs against the Windies. If MS Dhoni will score 101 runs in the upcoming series, West Indies will become the 5th team against whom the wicket-keeper batsman will be completing 1,000 runs after Sri Lanka, England, Australia, and Pakistan.

MS Dhoni (10123 runs) also needs 167 more runs to become the 11th highest run-getter in ODIs by surpassing Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan (10290 runs).

India’s batting great Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run scorer in limited overs game with 18426 runs followed by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (14234 runs), Australia’s Ricky Ponting (13704 runs), Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya (13430 runs), Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene (12650 runs), Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul Haq (11739 runs), South Africa’s Jacques Kallis (11579 runs), Sourav Ganguly (11363 runs), Rahul Dravid (10889 runs), West Indies’ Brian Lara (10405 runs), Sri Lanks’ Tillakaratne Dilshan (10290 runs) and MS Dhoni (10123 runs).

Senior Indian opener Rohit Sharma also needs 170 more runs to complete his 1000 runs against the West Indies in ODIs.
