Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday broke yet another Sachin Tendulkar record to become the fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Virat Kohli achieved this feat during the second ODI match of the five-match series between India and West Indies, at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The previous record was held by Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar. While Tendulkar had taken 259 innings to reach the landmark, Virat Kohli achieved this feat in 204 innings.

 

The Delhi batsman (3270 days) has also become the fastest to score 10k runs in terms of days from debut. The previous record was under Rahul Dravid’s name. Dravid has taken 3969 days to achieve this milestone. It is also noteworthy that Virat Kohli’s (59.17)average is also the highest. Before Kohli, the record was held by former Indian skipper MS Dhoni (51.30).

 

Virat Kohli has also become the fastest to score 4000 runs in the limited overs game at home. The previous record was registered under the name of Sachin Tendulkar.

 

While Tendulkar has taken 92 innings to score 4000 runs at home, Virat Kohli has reached the same milestone in 78 innings.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has become the third player in terms of most consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs at a single venue — a record Virat Kohli shared with former Australian skipper Rickey Pointing, Pakistan cricketer Younis Khan, Zimbabwe’s Brendan Taylor.
