Virat Kohli-led India were at 308 for the loss of four wickets at the end of the second day’s game in the ongoing second Test match against the West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant were unbeaten on 75 and 85 runs respectively as the home team now trail by only 3 runs in reply to the Windies’ first innings total of 311.

Umesh Yadav led India’s bowling as the hosts wrapped up the visiting team within the first half-hour on Saturday as the West Indies managed to add just 16 runs to their overnight total.

Meanwhile, Windies’ lower order batsman Roston Chase (106) brought up his fourth Test century while Umesh Yadav bagged three wickets and returned with his career-best figures of 6/88.

In reply to West Indies’ first innings total of 311, Prithvi Shaw gave India a flying start as he smashed the maiden fifty of his Test career. However, senior batsman KL Rahul’s flop show continued even in the second Test match as he was once again scalped at the individual score of four by Jason Holder. Following Rahul’s departure, Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara joined Shaw at the crease but was not able to do much as he got a faint edge to the keeper.

After a bracing start, India had a few jittery moments as they were reduced to 102/3. They lost skipper Virat Kohli before tea as the scorecard read 162/4.

However, after three back-to-back wickets, Rahane and Pant put up an unbeaten 146-run stand for the fifth wicket to see Day 2 on 308/4.
