Virat Kohli-led Team Indian invited West Indies cricket team to field first after winning the toss in the opening One Day International (ODIs) match of five-match series on Sunday, 21st October.

 

The first match is played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who was included in the 12-member squad by BCCI has been dropped from today’s match. Young Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant is making his limited overs debut for India against Windies.

 

After winning the toss, Virat Kohli said, “Surface looks good. There is bit of brown grass and I don’t see this pitch changing so we will bowl first. Our batting order is settled as Rayudu has taken number four spot. We don’t need to ponder one much. Rishabh Pant makes his debut. We have three fast bowlers. Chahal, the wrist spinner and Jadeja to give us balance.”

 

Jason Holder said: “I won’t mind batting first on this pitch. We have two debutants in the team today. We are a young side and this is an opportunity for the youngsters to make their mark. Hemraj will open the batting and Oshane Thomas comes in fast bowling department. ”
