Deepti Sharma and Veda Krishnamurthy scored half-centuries as India scored 240 runs for 10 in the third and last One day International (ODI) match against South Africa women at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, on Saturday.

Indian women’s team has already won the three-match ODI series as they slammed Proteas team by 88 and 178 runs in the first two matches, respectively.

Earlier in the day, after winning the toss India decided to bat first.

However, the decision to bat first soon backfired as visitors lost two early wickets of Smriti Mandhana (0 runs) and Mithali Raj (4 runs) just at the score of 10.

Following Mandhana and Raj’s dismissal, vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma took the charge of India innings.

But they were not able to add much on the scoreboard as South African skipper Dane van Niekerk sent Kaur back to the stands.

After Kaur’s departure, Veda and Deepti took visitors innings forward and put the partnership of 83 runs for the fourth wicket.

However, Proteas pacer Raisibe Ntozakhe broke their partnership by sending Veda Krisnamurti back to the pavilion and soon Deepti Sharma followed.

Fall of wickets
