Cheteshwa Pujara was back-lashed by cricket experts and fans after his horrible outrun in the second Test at Centurion SuperSport Park. After Pujara’s run-out, Twitter had mocked Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his intent comment.

Earlier, during a press conference, Virat Kohli had said, “At the same time, we need to have intent because the kind of bowling attack they have – especially on these pitches they get extra bounce and they get extra pace off the wicket – you can’t be in a zone of not having intent and see off 35-40 overs.”

“You can’t just stand there and take whatever is coming your way and not have intent at all,” he added.

However, in the third Test match, it seems as if, Pujara is being too much careful before playing a shot.

The number three batsman, Pujara scored 0 runs after playing fifty balls. Pujara faced 50 balls in the third Test match between India and South Africa without scoring a single run. Pujara opened his account on the 54th ball by stealing a single.

Pujara faced 53 balls and stood at the crease for almost 90 minutes before opening his account and by doing so Pujara became the second overall and first Indian player who has faced maximum numbers of dot deliveries before getting off the mark since 2001. The first spot is reserved by England’s Stuart Broad who had faced 61 balls against New Zealand before scoring a single run.

Interestingly, the third spot in the list is taken by South African skipper Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis had faced 52 balls before opening his account in 2015 against India.

On his 54th delivery, Pujara stole a single. Pujara winked at the dressing room and everybody had a good laugh mixed with some applause.
