India vs England: MS Dhoni on the verge of touching yet another milestone

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to add another feather to his cap as he is just 33 runs shy of the 10,000-run landmark. The men-in-Blue will start their three-match ODI series against England on Wednesday and if Dhoni scores 33 runs, he will become the 12th cricketer in ODI history and fourth Indian player to achieve this feat.

The opening match of the ODI series will be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, and during the game, Dhoni will have a chance to join the elite club of India’s batting legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly. in the list.

India’s cricket great Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in ODI with 18,426 runs to his name. Tendulkar is followed by Sri Lanka’s wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara (14,234), former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting (13,704), Sri Lankans Sanath Jayasuriya (13,430) and Mahela Jayawardene (12,650). Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul Haq is at the fifth position with 11,739 runs, followed by South Africa’s Jacques Kallis (11,579), Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889), West Indian Brian Lara (10,405) and Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan (10,290).

The 37-year-old cricketer will also become the second wicketkeeper-batsman to touch the landmark of 10000-runs in ODIs after Sangakkara.
