Virat Kohli-led Team India is playing the opening match of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Australia at the Sydney Cricket ground.

On Saturday, Team India scripted an ‘unwanted record’ at the SCG after Ambati Rayudu was removed by the 22-year-old Australian pacer Jhye Richardson. Team India’s scorecard read “four after the loss of three wickets” which is also their joint lowest score at the fall of the third wicket in the limited overs game.

Here is the list of India’s lowest scores at the fall of the third wicket (ODIs):

4 vs Zimbabwe, Adelaide, 2004

5 vs South Africa, Hyderabad, 2005

6 vs Zimbabwe, Turnbridge Wells, 1983

Jhye Richardson first removed Indian skipper Virat Kohli on the third ball of his second over, and after just two balls, he removed Ambati Rayudu.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Australian skipper Aaron Finch opted to bat first after winning the toss. Riding on half-centuries from Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, and a final flourish from all-rounder Marcus Stoinis powered Australia to 288 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

It is also noteworthy that only two targets higher than 288 have been chased down by any team at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Here is the list of highest targets chased down at SCG:

334 Australia vs England, 2011

331 India vs Australia, 2016

275 Australia vs South Africa, 2014

270 South Africa vs Australia, 2009

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni completed his 10,000 runs for India in the limited overs game and in the process became the fifth Indian batsman to reach this milestone.
