Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has been recalled in the team’s squad for the last T20 International match of three-match T20I series against India. Starc will replace injured Billy Stanlake in the Australian squad.

Billy Stanlake has been ruled out from ongoing T20I series after suffering a moderate grade ankle sprain during a catching drill ahead of the washed-out second T20I in Melbourne. Nathan Coulter-Nile has replaced Stanlake in the washed out the second T20I and now Starc has taken his place in the 13-man squad.

Starc had played his last T20 match for Australia in September 2016. The last time Starc played for Australia in Down Under in a T20I match it was further back in 2014.

Speaking about Starc Australia’s T20I skipper Aaron Finch on Saturday said, “(Starc has) got so much experience in the limited-overs games as well and we’ve seen how dominant he can be when he gets it right with the ball,” before adding, “We’ll have a look at the wicket this afternoon and discuss the side but coming straight off a Shield game with an eye on the first Test, his preparations will be really good.”

Aaron Finch also had words of comfort for Stanlake, “He started to find some really good rhythm in Brisbane and he’s been around the mark for quite a while.”

Finch further said, “He obviously had a tough tour of England and to come back and have that time to get his body right and start to feel good again, it’s unfortunate he tripped on the rope and went straight over.”

Australia have now taken the lead of 1-0 in the ongoing T20I series.
