India vs South Africa women’s world cup final: Both India and South Africa will eye their maiden World Cup title as they lock horns in the highly anticipated ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both teams are going with the same elevens they played the semi-finals with.

India stormed into the final after crushing seven-time World Cup champions Australia in the semifinal, courtesy Jemimah Rodrigues’s gem of an innings (127 unbeaten) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s heroics.

On the other hand, South Africa humbled four-time World Cup winners England to reach the tournament final.

With both Australia and England out of the tournament, it is all but certain that a new champion will rise today.

Being the host, Indian women are the favourites, given they will have the advantage of home conditions and crowd support.

However, an in-form South Africa can’t be written off as their semifinal against England turned out to be a one-sided affair, and the Proteas women will be riding high in confidence.

Earlier in the day, Amanjot Kaur, who scored the winning runs in the semifinal against Australia, said the mood in the camp is positive.

“We are all excited and waiting to step onto the field…,” Amanjot told broadcasters as the wet outfield delayed the toss.

At the time of writing this report, the pitch and the outfield were under covers while it was still raining.

Given the weather conditions, the toss was likely to be delayed, and the possibility of a curtailed encounter loomed.
