India’s preparations for the upcoming white-ball assignments against England and Zimbabwe have suffered a setback after Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy were ruled out with hamstring injuries, prompting the selectors to draft in Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi as replacements.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Sunday that pacer Prince Yadav has replaced Rana in the ODI squad for the England series, while leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi comes in for Chakaravarthy in the T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour.
According to the BCCI, Rana experienced discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. Scans later confirmed a Grade 1 hamstring injury, ruling him out of the three-match ODI series. He will now report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further assessment and rehabilitation.
Chakaravarthy, meanwhile, sustained a Grade 2 injury to his left hamstring during the same match. Following specialist medical advice, he has been ruled out of the T20I series against Zimbabwe and will also undergo treatment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
India will begin the three-match ODI series against England on July 14 before travelling to Zimbabwe, where Shreyas Iyer’s side will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs starting July 23.
