IND vs AFG, one-off Test, 2nd day: Afghanistan bowled out for 109, trail by 365 run

India bowled out debut Afghanistan squad for 109 runs in the second session of the second day of one-off Test on Friday. The match is played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Following the target of 475 runs on Friday, Afghanistan team’s start was not good as both Afghan openers Mohammad Shahzad and Javed Ahmadi went back to the pavilion at the score of 21 runs in the sixth over.

Mohammad Shahzad was run out by all-rounder Hardik Pandya while Ishant Sharma removed Javed Ahmadi.

After the openers departed, Rahmat Shah and Afsar Zazai took charge of Afghan innings but even they have no answer to the Indian bowlers.

In the 9th over of the game, Umesh Yadav removed Shah and become 22nd Indian to grab 100 Test wickets. Ishant Sharma removed Afsar Zazai in the 10th over of the game.

Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai failed to impress the audience with his bat as he was bowled out by Indian spin wizard R Ashwin and soon Hashmatullah Shahidi followed him back to the stands.

More than half of Afghan batsmen were sent back to the pavilion when Mohammad Nabi along with Rashid Khan took charge of the visitors’ innings and added 19 runs for the seventh wicket.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja broke Nabi-Khan’s partnership by removing Rashid from the crease and soon R Ashwin removed Yamin Ahmadzai from the attack.

Mohammad Nabi was the only Afghan batsman to cross 20 runs mark, he scored 24 runs off 44 balls before getting removed by R Ashwin.

Meanwhile, Mujeeb Ur Rahman scored 15 runs and Wafadar was not at six.

From the Indian side, R Ashwin bagged four wickets. Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each, Umesh Yadav grabbed one wicket.

Earlier, batting first and riding on Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay’s century and KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya’s half-century, India scored 474 runs before getting bowled out.
