As Season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) nears kickoff, coaches BC Ramesh, Manpreet Singh and Ajay Thakur offered a glimpse into what promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet.
Returning to the Bengaluru Bulls after six seasons, head coach BC Ramesh is eager to reconnect with his home side. “Being a native of Bengaluru, this team holds a special place for me,” he said, stressing the importance of defence. “Fifty percent of a match is won through defence. We’ve strengthened all key defensive positions and added exciting raiding talent like Akash Shinde, Aashish Malik, and Ganesh from the NYP trials.”
Ramesh highlighted that the Bulls’ squad, though young, has great potential. “We also have an Iranian right raider from last season who adds value. I expect a good team performance.”
Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh echoed the need for balance. “In the auctions, our goal was to build a balanced squad. Naveen brings experience to an already strong raiding unit, while defenders Rahul and Jaideep have been consistent. We’ve added two young defenders who are showing great promise,” he said.
For Puneri Paltan’s new head coach Ajay Thakur, team unity is paramount. “We have many champions, but my role is to make them play as one. Players should feel heard and empowered. That mutual trust will define our success,” he said, adding that his focus is on taking the season step by step without the immediate pressure of winning the title.
Meanwhile, former PKL star and JioStar expert Rishank Devadiga predicted an exciting start. “Every team treats the opener like a final. Keep an eye on Haryana Steelers, Puneri Paltan, and Tamil Thalaivas. Last season was all about defence, but this year, raiders like Devank and Ashu Malik will steal the show.”
With well-balanced squads and renewed strategies, Season 12 is shaping up to be a high-octane affair from the opening day.
