Tickets for the 2026 ICC men’s T20 World Cup went on sale on Thursday, ahead of the tournament’s start on February 7, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
In the first phase of sales, entry prices begin at INR 100 (USD 1.1) at selected Indian venues and LKR 1000 (USD 3.2) in Sri Lanka, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday. The details of Phase II ticket sales will be revealed later.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the launch marks a key milestone in the build-up to the event.
“Phase I of ticket sales is an important milestone in our journey towards delivering the most accessible and global ICC event ever staged,” he said. “Our vision for the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is clear: every fan, regardless of background, geography, or financial means, should have the chance to access an in-stadia experience of world-class marquee cricket.”
“With tickets starting from just INR 100 and LKR1000, we are putting affordability at the centre of our strategy. This is about opening the gates wide and inviting millions to be part of a global celebration of cricket, not as spectators from afar, but as active participants in the energy, emotion and magic that only a stadium can offer.”
The tournament final is scheduled for March 8 in Ahmedabad, unless Pakistan qualifies, in which case the title clash will shift to Colombo. The semi-finals are set for March 4 in Kolkata and March 5 in Mumbai, but will also be moved to Colombo if Pakistan reaches the last four.
The other Indian venues include Delhi and Chennai, while Kandy joins Colombo as Sri Lankan hosts. All group-stage matches involving Sri Lanka or Pakistan will be played in Sri Lanka. The match start times are 11:00 (05:30 GMT), 15:00 (09:30 GMT) and 19:00 IST (13:30 GMT).
Tournament format
The 2026 edition retains the format used in 2024. Twenty teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each advancing to the Super Eight stage.
In Group A, defending champions and hosts India are joined by Pakistan, USA, Netherlands and Namibia. Group B consists of co-hosts Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Oman, while Group C will have England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal and Italy. The Group D consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada and UAE.
In Super Eight, each team will play the other three teams, with the top two from each group qualifying for the semi-finals.
