India cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle on Wednesday heaped praises on India cricketer Shubman Gill after the latter expressed his disappointment over not being selected in the Indian team touring the West Indies for the upcoming series in the Carribean island beginning 3 August.
Bhogle took to Twitter to write: “Happy that @RealShubmanGill has expressed his disappointment at not being picked for at least one of the Indian teams to the West Indies. Shows hunger & ambition. Now he must channelise this positively by scoring more & not allow those who seed negative thoughts anywhere near him.”

Notably, the MSK Prasad-led selection committee on Sunday announced the squad for Team India’s upcoming tour to the West Indies wherein the 19-year-old failed to make a cut.
Gill, who was ignored by the selection committee despite winning the Player of the Tournament award in the recently concluded unofficial ODI series between India A and the West Indies A, said that he was expecting to be selected in at least one of the Indian squads.
“I was waiting for the Indian senior team to be announced on Sunday and I expected to be selected for at least one of the squads,” Gill told CricketNext, adding, “It was disappointing not to get picked but I am not going to spend time thinking over it. I’ll keep scoring runs and performing to the best of my ability to impress the selectors.
