Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who rose to fame with his ‘heroic’ 76 runs against Pakistan in the final of Champions Trophy, had recently landed himself in trouble without his fault.

On Wednesday, a special SC/ST court directed the police to register a case against Pandya for his alleged tweet on BR Ambedkar.

But now it has been confirmed that the account from which the tweet was posted does not belong to Pandya.

The tweet criticising Ambedkar was posted from the screen user @sirhardik3777 while Pandya’s official and verified handle is @hardikpandya7.

However, the Twitter handle from which the tweet had been posted is not available on the micro-blogging site anymore. Either it has been deactivated or deleted.

On Wednesday, a special SC/ST court directed the police to register a case against him for his alleged tweet on BR Ambedkar.

“Which Ambedkar ??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country,” read the now-deleted tweet, allegedly posted by Hardik Pandya. The tweet was posted on December 26 last year.

As per a report published in the Times of India, petitioner DR Meghwal claims that Hardik Pandya’s comment was insulting and it hurt the sentiments of the people of his community. He even said Pandya was trying to spread hatred in the society.

“I learnt about Pandya’s comment through social media in January. It appeared quite derogatory for a figure like Ambedkar and was an attempt to spread hatred and create division in the society,” said Meghwal, an advocate.

“By doing so, he has committed a serious crime and hurt the sentiments of my entire community,” Meghwal said.

Meghwal also said the Indian cricketer should be given adequate and suitable punishment for his “crass act”.

Hardik Pandya, who was rested for the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy 2018, will be seen in action in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League.
