Veteran Indian batsman and one of the most dashing openers of the modern era Virender Sehwag turned 40 on Friday, October 20, and the cricket fraternity as well fans took to Twitter to post birthday wishes for Viru.

Sehwag, who is well-known for his explosive batting style, has drawn comparisons with many former greats of the game during his playing years. On Friday, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, while wishing him on his birthday on Twitter, called Virender Sehwag ‘modern-day Viv Richards.’

“Wishing the modern generation’s Viv Richards a.k.a. @virendersehwag, my dear friend a very happy birthday! Hope you have an eventful year full of happiness and joy!,” Harbhajan Singh wrote on Twitter.

Virender Sehwag has represented India in 104 Test matches and scored 8586 runs at an average of 49.34 with an impressive strike rate of 82.23.

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Sehwag has made 251 appearances and scored 8273 runs at an average of 35.05 with a strike rate of 104.33.
