Brazil have received a timely boost at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with star forward Neymar returning to full training ahead of their final Group C fixture against Scotland.
The Santos attacker, who had only partially resumed training last week, completed his first full session with the Brazil squad since the team assembled in Teresopolis, near Rio de Janeiro, on May 27. His return comes after recovering from a grade-two calf strain that ruled him out of the opening stages of the tournament.
Neymar shared his delight on social media after the session, posting images from training and writing: “Thank you, God, I’m so incredibly happy!”

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed on Friday that the 34-year-old has recovered sufficiently to be included in the matchday squad for Wednesday’s clash against Scotland in Miami.
Neymar’s return has lifted spirits within the Brazil camp, according to midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
“We’re all pleased about Neymar’s return,” Paqueta told reporters on Sunday. “He’s an extremely important player for our national team, someone with a wonderful history who can help us a lot. I hope he can be on the field helping us again as soon as possible.”
Recent imaging tests showed satisfactory progress in Neymar’s recovery, clearing the way for his reintegration into full training and potential return to competitive action.
Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 international appearances, Neymar has not featured for the national team since suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in October 2023.
The veteran forward has previously indicated that the 2026 FIFA World Cup is likely to be the final tournament of his international career. Earlier this year, he responded emotionally to a FIFA social media tribute that reflected on his journey with the Brazilian national team.
Brazil currently sit atop Group C with four points from two matches, ahead of Morocco on goal difference. Scotland remain firmly in contention with three points, while Haiti are yet to open their account.
With qualification to the knockout stage still on the line, Neymar’s return could prove decisive as the five-time world champions look to finish the group stage strongly and launch a serious bid for a sixth World Cup title.
