Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, who featured in nine seasons with the English giants, joined the Indonesian football club Persib Bandung on Tuesday.
Essien's stint with Chelsea saw the team win a Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups.
Essien, 34, has also played for Real Madrid and AC Milan, besides his English club appearance.
The Ghana-born is one of the most talked-about players signing for Indonesian football since Roger Milla and Mario Kempes, who played for the South Asian country in 1990s.
Persib Bandung are one of the most supported clubs in India and recently finished third in the prestigious President's Cup football tournament.
