Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon on Saturday came out in support of struggling Aussie batters after their meek surrender in front of India’s world-class bowling attack in the third Test match which was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.

With their 137 run win over Australia in Melbourne, Virat Kohli-led Team India has taken a lead of 2-1 in the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia.

Speaking about Aussie batting attack, a ‘sympathetic’ Nathan Lyon said he is not too worried about that and “success for them is around the corner”.

“I see how much hard work the guys are doing in the nets and in training. We know they are working hard and not going out to fail. They have all my support,” Lyon was quoted as saying at the end of the fourth day’s play.

Lyon also heaped praises on Indian bowlers.

“We are up against a world-class bowling attack, one of the best Indian attacks I have ever seen. They are disappointed but I know how hard they are working. Success for them is around the corner.”

Talking about Aussie Test opener Aaron Finch; Lyon said he is a huge fan of him.

“I am a massive fan of Aaron Finch. He is working hard and seeing a lot of balls in nets. We have seen him in international cricket in all the three formats as a world-class batsman. He is disappointed as anyone else is,” Lyon said, backing the under-fire opener.

The recently concluded third Test match twice witnessed Australia’s batting collapse before Pat Cummins saved the day for them on Saturday.

“Pat Cummins has been exceptional in this match and he keeps getting better every day. I enjoy batting with Pat helps calm down my nerves and it was an exciting challenge. It was a pretty special knock from him,” Nathan Lyon said heaping praises on Pat Cummins.

“He is a great bloke but even a better cricketer. Seeing where he started from and seeing where he is now, he has a hell of a long career ahead of him,” Lyon added.
