Former Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja has launched a series of attacks against Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over its functioning. He not only criticised PCB for appointing Nizam Sethi as the new chairman amid the tenure but also questioned the political motive behind the decision.

Recently, in a YouTube video, interacting with fans, Raja said, “To accommodate one person (read Sethi), they had to change the entire constitution. I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season, when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am in the night, he tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts.”

He further said, “It has been made out as if a messiah has come, who will take the game to new heights. We know what he is up to. He wants limelight at any cost. He has nothing to do with cricket, and has never lifted a bat. They have changed me midway. In the middle of the season, they are bringing Mickey Arthur. Saqlain Mushtaq’s tenure ended in January. Saqlain has played over 50 Tests, he is a legend. This is no way to treat the cricketers.”

Notably, Ramiz Raja had a three-year contract with the PCB, but was removed from the post in the middle of his tenure. He had to leave the post of PCB chairman barely 12 months of assuming the position.

Further in the video, while communicating to his fans, he expressed his disappointment and frustration over the political reasons behind his removal. He alleged that the entire constitution was changed just to fit in one person. He obviously was referring to mid-way appointment of Nizam Sethi that came as a bolt from the blue for him.

He also alleged that he was not even allowed to take back his stuff from his office as Sethi’s men took over. He claimed that it is all a political victimization and vendetta.
