Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman slammed his maiden century as Pakistan gain control in the ICC Champions trophy final against India at The Oval on Sunday.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led Pakistan completed 200 runs in 32.5 overs, with Zaman and Babar Azam batting at 113 and 11 runs respectively.

Earlier, the opening pair of Zaman and Azhar Ali struck dazzling half-centuries to give Pakistan an aggressive start. They established 128 runs for the opening-wicket partnership.

However, Ali was run out in the 23rd over after scoring 59 runs, with a six and six boundaries.

Fast bowler Hardik Pandya trapped the big fish – Zaman (114), who was caught by Ravindra Jadeja in the 34th over.

Indian captain Virat Kohli's plan to field first after winning the toss backfired him as Indian bowlers failed to put early pressure on the arch-rivals.
