Indian women cricket team’s batting great Mithali Raj, who is also the highest run-getter in ODIs, has written a letter to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri and GM (cricket operations) Saba Karim regarding her omission from playing XI in the ICC T20 World Cup semifinals. The mail got leaked in the media on Tuesday and was widely shared on Twitter.

In her letter, Mithali Raj accused coach Ramesh Powar of humiliating her. She also claimed Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji of “using her position” against her.

In a new development, BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary has written to Johri and Karim, enquiring about how Raj’s letter get leaked.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, Amitabh Choudhary’s mail read, “I was taken aback by media reports today, obviously based on leaks, reporting content of the email apparently written by Ms Mithali Raj. I am not sure to whom the email was addressed though it remains a fact that the undersigned is convenor of the national women’s selection committee and the concerned recepient(s) should immediately have copied the same to me. It is clear that the contents are extremely damaging to certain individual persons and therefore to the BCCI. Please let me know the facts of the case at the earliest.”

Earlier, an upset Mithali Raj in a scathing letter to BCCI wrote that a few people in power were trying to destroy her.

“For the first time in a 20 year long career, I felt deflated, depressed and let down. I am forced to think if my services to my country are of any value to a few people in power who are out to destroy me and break my confidence,” Mithali wrote.

Mithali Raj has also stated that she has no complaints against T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
