The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has charged multiple team officials, franchise owners and players over alleged corruption, betting activities and obstruction of investigations during the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
The charges were filed following investigations conducted by the BCB Integrity Unit (BCBIU) into alleged corrupt conduct linked to the tournament.
According to the BCB, the investigation uncovered alleged betting-related activities, corrupt approaches, non-cooperation with anti-corruption officials, concealment of evidence and deletion of communications relevant to the inquiry.
Those charged include team managers Md. Lablur Rahman and Rezwan Kabir Siddique, franchise co-owner Md. Towhidul Haque Towhid, and domestic cricketer Amit Mojumder.
Rahman and Towhid have both been accused of breaching Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for Participants, which relate to failing to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations and allegedly obstructing inquiries by concealing or deleting relevant information.
Meanwhile, Amit Mojumder and Rezwan Kabir Siddique have been charged under Article 2.2.1 for allegedly placing or participating in bets connected to cricket matches.
The BCB confirmed that all charged individuals have been provisionally suspended and given 14 days to respond to the allegations.
In a separate development, the BCB also imposed an exclusion order on Saminur Rahman under the Board’s Excluded Person Policy following investigations into alleged corrupt activities linked to multiple editions of the BPL, including the ninth, tenth and eleventh seasons.
The board stated that the investigation found alleged links to betting networks, corrupt approaches to players and agents, and involvement in facilitating corrupt activities related to cricket matches.
According to the BCB, Rahman accepted the exclusion order and waived his right to contest the decision.
