Seventeen-year-old Prithika Pradeep enjoyed a breakthrough outing on the senior international stage, clinching an individual bronze before helping India secure silver in the women’s compound team event at Stage 4 of the Archery World Cup in Madrid.
Competing in her maiden World Cup podium event, Prithika defeated Turkiye’s Hazal Burun 145-142 in the bronze-medal match to claim her first senior World Cup medal. Earlier, she had narrowly missed out on a place in the final after a 144-142 semifinal defeat to Malaysia’s Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh.
The youngster then teamed up with experienced campaigner Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikitha Taniparthi as India finished runners-up in the women’s compound team competition. The Indian trio went down 232-228 to top-seeded Colombia in the gold-medal match after an impressive run that included wins over Denmark, hosts Spain and South Korea.
Prithika is also part of the Chero Archers franchise for the second season of the Archery Premier League (APL), which is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad this October.
