India’s rising badminton talent Aakarshi Kashyap delivered a stellar performance at the Lagos International Classics 2025, clinching the silver medal and once again proving her mettle on the international stage. Backed by NTPC Korba under its CSR initiative, the Chhattisgarh shuttler combined determination, skill, and resilience to script a memorable run in the prestigious tournament.

Aakarshi displayed remarkable consistency throughout the competition. She outclassed Korea’s Ga Eun Park in the quarterfinals and avenged an earlier defeat by overcoming a tough Indonesian opponent in the semifinals.

Despite battling fatigue from four back-to-back matches, she fought against compatriot Shreya Lele with grit in the final before settling for silver. Lele won 21-15, 21-17 to bag the gold.

Reflecting on her achievement, Aakarshi said, “This wouldn’t have been possible without the constant support from NTPC Korba and my well-wishers. The experience motivates me to keep working harder and aim for greater success.”

Aakarshi’s silver medal at Lagos International Classics not only underscores her steady rise as one of India’s brightest badminton prospects but also highlights the role of institutional support in nurturing young sporting talent, an NTPC release said

Looking ahead, Aakarshi has set her sights on the Vietnam International Series, scheduled from September 9 to 14.

With renewed confidence and momentum, she aims to build on her Lagos performance and bring more glory to the country, inspiring countless young athletes along the way.
